DESCRIPTION:                                                                                                                                                  

Performs repairs to Caterpillar and allied equipment at customer locations.  Installs new equipment and component parts.  Performs standard work assignments, without supervision, according to needs of the customer and company.  Is assigned a company service truck and may be dispatched from home or company shop.

Compensation: up to $42.00 per hour

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Demonstrate technical, mechanical and troubleshooting abilities to define and perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar and Allied equipment without supervision to meet standards
  3. Maintain a valid commercial driver’s licenses and have the ability to operate company service trucks under DOT regulations
  4. Ability to read, write and comprehend technical service manuals
  5. Ability to use micrometer and other testing tools
  6. Mechanic level will be determined by manager after all testing is complete

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs repairs to CAT and allied construction machinery, at customer's jobsite or at Company Shop, using appropriate tooling and test equipment to capably complete the work in timely and efficient manner with a high level of quality
  2. Operates construction machinery to evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical problems prior to repairs and test upon completion of repairs
  3. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  4. Must be capable of exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  5. Reads and comprehends blueprints, technical data/service manuals and writes legibly
  6. Uses test equipment to analyze, evaluate and locate problems.  Confer with customer and/or supervisor or make independent on the job decisions when necessary
  7. Follow company work rules, job safety, and complies with Company and DOT regulations
  8. Projects a positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; displays an attitude of professionalism; complies with company dress code
  9. Maintains assigned service truck in safe, clean, operable condition.  Obeys state and company rules of the road.  If accident occurs, fills out reports promptly
  10. Owns, updates and maintains sufficient hand tools to perform the job and be familiar with the use of those tools
  11. Performs other duties as necessary and assigned
